How to reinstall a cd/dvd drive?

I have a cd and dvd drive installed in my computer, but sometimes when i turn on the computer and try to use a cd it is mysteriously not there. I go to the device manager and it gives me a yellow caution sign next to the drives. How do i get my cd/dvd drive up and running again?
